Play Piano Faster Using This Exercise

The best way to be able to play faster is by practicing slowly. It may seem counter-intuitive but if you jump straight into fast tempos you'll most likely pick up bad habits.

However, this exercise is great for developing your ability to play faster whilst learning a pretty cool pentatonic pattern at the same time.

We take a C minor pentatonic pattern through quarter notes, triplets and eight notes - each one getting tricker to play.

You should start off at a comfortable tempo where you can play the exercise without any mistakes. From there you can slowly increase the tempo in small increments. If you find yourself making the same mistakes over and over, you're practicing too fast.

Happy practicing!

Lesson Summary:

  • Learn how to play a pentatonic pattern
