In this lesson, you're going to learn how to play a bebop style 251 lick. It's from a Charlie Parker solo over "All The Things You Are". It's quite a fast-paced lick that might take some practice to get it under your fingers.
It's actually more of a V-I lick since nothing is played on chord 2. It makes use of approach patterns, chromaticism, modes, arpeggios and all sorts of cool stuff - a great start for learning the bebop language!
Lesson Summary:
- See a demonstration of the lick and also hear the original recording
- Learn some possible voicings for a 251
- See the lick broken right down and analyzed every step of the way
